How did you lower the reps? Did you perform fewer reps per set, less sets, or both? – you had one hard (higher rep day) and one easier lower rep (if you can call 800 reps easy or low reps :)) day per week. – what did you do when it was a scheduled workout day, but you knew you were not recovered from the last workout? – did you ever cycle your workouts or was it always pedal to the metal? – always do more than 100 reps per set or were there times when you did fewer reps per set, but more sets in a workout to reach your rep goal for that workout? But after you were capable of performing 100 or more reps per set did you: You stated, “When you get to a number of reps that you can keep up continuously for 4-5 sets without failure, then you decide right then that you won’t do any less on any set from that point on.” You also said you got to the point of doing 100 or more reps in a set. I will try them as shown in the clip during my next workout. Thanks for posting the clip! I thought I was doing Push-ups the way you were doing them, but see that my range of motion was greater.

Still, it doesn’t take away from the sheer enjoyment of watching the beloved duo get up to their mischief. It’s a difficult juggling act, and some scenes feel a bit too stretched out. The film struggles to keep your attention as it switches between the human drama and the slapstick comedy with the animated characters. The real heroes are, of course, Tom and Jerry who never miss an opportunity to get into their classic spats, and yet, somehow, still manage to look out for each other in their own ways. Colin Jost and Pallavi Sharda both channelize influencer couple cheesiness as Ben and Preeta, though there’s more going on there. Michael Pena brings his distinctive style to Terrance, a stickler for his distinguished property's old school values. It helps that Chloe Grace Moretz is generally likeable, and her charm is on full display as Kayla, the new employee trying to impress her bosses. The cat and mouse rivals are back and up to their old antics in a new setting that puts a fresh spin on the classic series. This film’s broad storyline tries to flesh out some of the human characters. The toons' whole appeal was the creative ways these frenemies would go at each other, resulting in slapstick at its best. It does a massive favour because it immediately takes you back, thanks to the animators. Director Tim Story captures that classic feel in this live-action animated film, by featuring the animated characters as modernized renditions of the 2D cartoons. So, when Kayla comes across Tom, she enrols him to help her with Jerry.įor the 80s and 90s kids, the beloved cartoon series invokes a strong sense of nostalgia. There’s pressure on the hotel staff and owner Mr DuBros (Rob Delaney) along with deputy manager Terrance (Michael Pena), certainly add to that. Amidst this mouse problem, the grand wedding of Preeta (Pallavi Sharda) and Ben (Colin Jost) needs to be planned and executed. No reputed hotel wants a rodent around, but when new employee Kayla (Chloe Grace Moretz), is tasked with getting rid of the little fellow, she finds herself outwitted. Review: Jerry takes up a tiny spot at the prestigious Royal Gate Hotel in New York City and begins to create havoc. "Pretty Birds" is produced by her mentor No I.D. Ostensibly created as a "concept album," Souled Out tracks her life experience viewed via her relationships - "we live by the love, die by the love," she croons on "To Live and Die" - her late brother's memory and young daughter's vocals (on "Promise"). In that respect, Aiko is virtually critic-proof, an instantly relatable, indescribably popular entity whose shortcomings as a vocalist are trumped by her ability to gauge the temperature of the modern R&B genre and give the people what they want. Much like the late singer, Aiko won't win any "Best Vocalist" awards anytime soon, but makes up for it with copious amounts of charisma. With the release of long-delayed major label debut Souled Out, Jhené Aiko demonstrates that, while she might not officially be the heir apparent to the Aaliyah legacy, she's sitting on the throne until someone else shows up. She’s strong, she’s vulnerable, she’s broken, she’s determined, she’s furious. I just feel like she feels like a real person to me who is who she is. I don’t know how else to really articulate it. We’re just as conflicted and we’re just as dark and we’re just as interesting, and I guess it’s really nice to play a female character in a world who’s authentically influenced by her circumstances. And we are, but we’re also many other things. I think people think women just want to be considered strong, and as strong as a man. She’s strong because of her circumstances, and I think that’s the truth that I’m talking about and that’s what I love about it. She felt very truthful to me and for an actor there’s always something that resonates purely on the human level, because at the end of the day the circumstances are different but we’re playing people and the human condition is really limited to your circumstances. What did you like about the character of Furiosa having strength and vulnerability? Don’t tell your wife, because she’s South African. Then I met the man, the myth, and we had a very very long dinner and we fell madly in love. Then there was the loose ideas that everyone was talking about, what the movie was and the characters that he was creating, and that there was going to be this awesome female role and that she would stand next to Max. I have gone through my career being somewhat enamored by George as a filmmaker, and I found myself in my career talking with other directors who I really hold in a high regard, and I’ve heard them talk about George as a filmmaker. It says things like, “I’m a pig on a mission.” If that goes off at the wrong time you’re in real trouble.īut why was I into working with him? He’s a director I look up to, he uses some of the best set designers, vehicle builders, these are just all very exciting, at the top of their game and making an exciting, interesting film, and also a character that I just loved and adored and enjoyed playing. I had the cuddly toy Babe and if you squeezed its ear it said quotes from the movie. Then also the chance to work with him, I loved Babe growing up. I hadn’t seen the original films and watched them before I auditioned with George, and was blown away first of all by the fact that so many things I had seen in pop culture were basically based upon this world that George has created, and then also how they stood the test of time and how interesting they were and how the world developed. What was it about Mad Max Fury Road that appealed to you?Ī lot of things. So, having finally scraped the sand out of everywhere it had got stuck after the months-long 2012 shoot, the stars sat down to tell Moviehole all about it. The other was George Miller’s follow-up to the films many fans still equate him with despite a few decades of dancing penguins and talking pigs, ”Mad Max Fury Road”. One is ”Star Wars”, but that was going to be filming up in Abu Dhabi. Such circumstances could only possibly lead to one of two spectacular movie experiences for the stars, crew and later the audience. Neither Charlize Theron nor Nicholas Hoult are stranger to big budget action fare after films like “Prometheus”, “Hancock” and the “X-Men” series.īut we’ll bet neither of them ever thought they’d end up in the deserts of Namibia racing cars and trucks through enormous CGI sandstorms, sporting buzz cuts, tattoos and body paint. Macabre action and humor abound, particularly in the film’s final scene. and Rob Zombie has a voice cameo so listen closely. Here’s our ranking of his seven films, listed from bloody mess to gory great. Heres a list of the 31 best zombie movies, including new. Though unified in style and substance, there are certainly highs and lows in Zombie’s directorial career. And with news that familiar Zombie actors Sheri Moon Zombie, Jeff Daniel Phillips, and Daniel Roebuck will be playing Lily, Herman, and Grandpa Munster, it appears his latest project will fit right in with his current filmography.īut that doesn’t mean his work behind the camera has been consistently successful. By writing his own scripts, working with a recognizable stock company of players, and repeatedly mining his own personal obsessions in movie after movie, his films bear the unmistakable stamp of a genuine auteur. Moreover, Zombie has achieved something no other musician-turned-director has to this point: a distinct signature style. His dazzling concerts have always incorporated vintage clips from B-movies, and the memorable music videos he directed early on were the perfect training ground for his eventual feature work. It’s no surprise, of course, that an artist as hyper-attuned to visual imagery as Zombie has been throughout his musical career would take to filmmaking with such intensity. When Rob Zombie’s reboot of “The Munsters” hits screens in 2022, it will mark his eighth feature film, and will reaffirm his status as the most prolific musician-turned-director in history. According to officers at the scene, Reed’s last words were, “Why did you shoot me? I was reading a book.”Īs the Texas Hold ’Em craze picked up momentum in the mid-2000s, fans of the game started hosting tournaments at private clubs, bars, and residences. Statements by the police themselves seem to back that account. Why would he knowingly point his gun at a heavily armed police team? More likely, they said, Reed mistakenly believed the raiding officers were there to do harm, particularly given that the club had been robbed not long before the raid. Reed’s family insisted the police story was unlikely. Police said they approached the tinted car where Reed was working security, knocked, and identified themselves, then shot Reed when he refused to drop his handgun. Reed during a 3:00 AM raid on a private club suspected of facilitating gambling. In 1998 a SWAT team in Virginia Beach shot and killed security guard Edward C. It wasn’t even the first time a Virginia SWAT team had killed someone during a gambling raid. The raid on Sal Culosi was merely another red flag indicating yet more SWAT team mission creep in America. That same year, Virginia’s government spent $20 million promoting the state lottery. In January 2011, the Culosi family accepted a $2 million settlement offer from Fairfax County. The title: “Illegal Gambling Not Worth the Risk.” Given the proximity to Culosi’s death, residents could be forgiven for thinking the police department believed wagering on sports was a crime punishable by execution. In March 2006, just two months after its ridiculous gambling investigation resulted in the death of an unarmed man, the Fairfax County Police Department issued a press release warning residents not to participate in office betting pools tied to the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. Sal Culosi’s last words were to Baucum, the cop he thought was a friend: “Dude, what are you doing?” Deval Bullock, who had been on duty since 4:00 AM and hadn’t slept in seventeen hours, fired a bullet that pierced Culosi’s heart. When Culosi, barefoot and clad in a T-shirt and jeans, stepped out of his house to meet the man he thought was a friend, the SWAT team began to move in. On the night of January 24, 2006, Baucum called Culosi and arranged a time to drop by to collect his winnings. And that’s when they brought in the SWAT team. Under Virginia law, that was enough for police to charge Culosi with running a gambling operation. Eventually Culosi and Baucum bet more than $2,000 in a single day. During the next several months, he talked Culosi into raising the stakes of what Culosi thought were just more fun wagers between friends to make watching sports more interesting. After overhearing the men wagering, Baucum befriended Culosi as a cover to begin investigating him. “None of us single, successful professionals ever thought that betting fifty bucks or so on the Virginia–Virginia Tech football game was a crime worthy of investigation.” Baucum apparently did. “To Sal, betting a few bills on the Redskins was a stress reliever, done among friends,” a friend of Culosi’s told me shortly after his death. Several months earlier at a local bar, Fairfax County, Virginia, detective David Baucum overheard the thirty-eight-year-old optometrist and some friends wagering on a college football game. His local government killed him, ostensibly to protect him from his gambling habit. Sal Culosi is dead because he bet on a football game - but it wasn’t a bookie or a loan shark who killed him.
